The
Children’s University is a national project which recognises the
achievements of young people who take part in quality out-of-hours
learning
activities. These can be run at a school as an after-school club, or may
be offered by accredited ‘learning destinations’ such as a museum,
library,
sports club or tourist attraction. The aim of the Children’s University
is to raise the aspirations of young people by introducing them to a
wide range of learning opportunities and a love of lifelong learning.
The students’ achievements are recorded on a ‘passport’ and are
celebrated and rewarded through certificates which they receive for
completing 30 (bronze), 65 (silver) and 100 (gold) hours of activity.
Recipients of gold awards will be able to attend a full graduation
ceremony, complete with gowns and mortar boards, at Plymouth University
Campus. We hope to provide all our children with passports and more
information as soon as we can. |
