We started the first of our goodbyes today -although actually they will be in school tomorrow. It isn't just the year sixes leaving this term. We say goodbye to Mrs Clark and Mrs Gibson. Mrs Gibson has been at school for 24 years and will be missed in so many areas of school life and has had a massive impact on so many children's lives. Mrs Clark has taught at school for 10 years and we will miss her expertise as well as all her creative skills.

  • 10th Whole school walk

    Mon 22 Jul 2019
For the 10th year running we set off for our whole school walk this morning. The sun wasn't quite shining but it was warm and I am sure many will have had an early night. Our 4 mile walk was full of adventure- hills to hike up and down, maize fields to go around, stiles to climb over, trees to limbo under and a lovely spot for lunch. Thank you to Mr Pearson and everyone else who helped organise the walk, appeared at the right points with fresh water to top up bottles and all the adults who accompanied their children on the walk.
  • OCRA 13 run

    Sun 21 Jul 2019
Well done to the children who took part in the OCRA 13 run in Okehampton this morning. Several classes have been starting the day with a 10 minute run this term so it was great to see that the children were keen to complete the OCRA 13 challenge. All children received their medal for completing the 2.5 km run with Jake being the first child to cross the line, 2nd person overall. We are very impressed with all of you. Keep up the running over the holiday.

We enjoyed watching Chestnuts perform their songs in assembly this morning in preparation for their performance to parents in the afternoon. Their pirate songs were fantastic and then everyone enjoyed joining in with Baby Shark!
  • 18.7.19 Successful Sports Day

    Sat 20 Jul 2019
Well done to all the children who took part on Sports day activities on Thursday. We were very lucky with the weather too. We are always so impressed with the children's enthusiasm and the support they give to each other. Thank you to the PTFA who organised refreshments all day and made an incredible £280.60 profit refreshments. They also provided the much needed lollies for the children. Thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents and friends who cheered and clapped all the children as they participated.
  • CPRE art competition winners.

    Fri 19 Jul 2019

A few weeks ago, year 3 art club entered an art competition called My Outdoors run by CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England). We were delighted to hear that out of all the entries from schools round Devon, 3 of our children received Highly Commended awards. Penny came to give them their certificates in assembly today and goody bags for all the children who took part.

  • World War 1 Day

    Wed 17 Jul 2019
Again the children impressed us with their dressing up and enthusiasm for World War 1 activities. Chestnuts and Hawthorns took a walk up to the memorial and did some observational drawing and then sang the war songs they have been learning in the square. Older children were busy cracking codes, learning about Morse code and writing from different people's points of view who were involved in the war. Thank you to all the parents who helped their children with costumes and props.
  • French Day

    Tue 16 Jul 2019
The children looked amazing today in their red, white and blue and French outfits. After a morning of French activities and croissants, all the children performed brilliantly at the Community Centre for our French assembly. (More photographs are on class pages and the French page under the Curriculum tab).
