  • End of term message.

    Fri 27 Mar 2020
We would like to wish you all a happy Easter. Hopefully the sun will continue to shine making this difficult time a bit less challenging. It has been lovely seeing what you have all been up to over the last week.
  • Goodbye to Miss Carter

    Fri 27 Mar 2020
It has been a peculiar week and seems really strange to be saying goodbye to Miss Carter without being in school. Thank you to her for all her work in year 4 since September and we wish her well in her next career.
  • School newsletter

    Fri 27 Mar 2020

Please find below a copy of the newsletter sent to parents and carers today.

    Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you and your family are safe and well and you have had a good first week of home learning.

Today would have been the last day of the Spring term, so I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and support this term and to wish you a Happy Easter.

During the Easter break no further home learning activities will be posted on the class pages but please continue with any projects already started and sending in your photos, they have been amazing and I know have been a source of pleasure and inspiration for all.   Please send in your photos using pupils@hatherleigh-pri.devon.sch.uk .

From the 14th April, the beginning of the Summer term, home learning will be posted on the class pages in a different way. Learning for the week will be shown as daily English, Maths, Science and the wider curriculum activities and, where possible, at different levels of challenge - one, two or three star activities. Through taking this approach, I hope it will give a little more structure to home learning as you will be able to work through activities on a daily basis. I appreciate home learning can be challenging but the expectation is that children complete some work every school day. If you need any support or have a question, please contact school. This new approach, as you can imagine, will evolve over the weeks and months and all feedback is gratefully received.

During the Easter break and Summer term school will continue to be available for vulnerable and key worker children, but can I remind you that all children should stay at home, following the Government’s directive, and only attend school if required to enable you to fulfil your role as part of the nation’s response to COVID-19, please contact school using admin@hatherleigh-pri.devon.sch.uk or teacher@hatherleigh-pri.devon.sch.uk .

Spending considerable amounts of time together at home as a family can be challenging, if you have any wellbeing or safeguarding concerns please contact the school or in an emergency the Police 999, non-emergency 101 or MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) on 03451551071 or mashsecure@devon.gov.uk .

For children entitled to a Free School Meal (FSM) you will have been contacted regarding term time provision whilst the school is closed, if you believe you are entitled to FSM and have not been contacted please inform the school.

Please regularly visit our website to view updates to class pages, home learning photos, online resources, including those for SEND children, and for further updates and information regarding COVID-19 as they become available from Devon County Council and the DfE.

    Stay safe and well

  • Photos of children's learning

    Mon 23 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

During the school closure we feel it is important that the children still feel part of our school. We have set up a new email address so that you can email in photographs of the children's work or them working to go on the website. This can be linked to specific tasks set by teachers, extra tasks following their topics or things you are enjoying doing together.

A new tab will be added to the 'Children' tab. We won't publish names but if you could send in a short caption explaining what they are doing or what the piece of work is that would be great.

We look forward to seeing what  you are all doing.

Please send photos to a new email address   Pupils@hatherleigh-pri.devon.sch.uk

  • Access to Nessy

    Mon 23 Mar 2020

During the school closure Nessy have offered free subscriptions to all children. This is an online program for all children but particularly good for those who find spelling more of a challenge. Some children already have a log in and this is still available.

If you wish to receive a log in for your child please contact school preferably via email with the subject Nessy.   teacher@hatherleigh-pri.devon.sch.uk

  • Thank you Katie Bennett

    Sat 21 Mar 2020

Thank you so much to Katie for her dedication whatever the weather, over the last 7 and a half years. You have undoubtedly helped to keep hundreds of children safe crossing the road before and after school.

Thank you also to Mrs Bragg and Year 5 for making her this beautiful card.

A copy of the letter from our Chair of Governors.

    Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to you to let you know that Devon County Council has advised us that Mrs Bennett, will be stepping down from her position as our School Crossing Patrol from the end of this term.  During the last 7 and a half years Mrs Bennett's calm reassurance has been a constant presence outside our school gates as she has escorted our children and their parents safely across the road.  For an entire generation of our pupils Mrs Bennett has been their first and last contact with school every day as she welcomes them cheerfully in the morning and waves them goodbye on their way home at the end of the day. In her role Mrs Bennett has dedicated herself to protecting and safeguarding our children and we are in no doubt that our children's lives have been so much safer in her very capable hands.

We shall miss her very much and thank her for everything that she has done for our children.

    Yours faithfully

    Jane Ruston
