Winter illness

 Tuesday 15th September 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

Winter illness

As we move further into term many children and adults will pick up winter colds, children may still attend school but if you feel your child is not well enough please keep them at home until they have recovered. However, if you or your child has any of the following COVID-19 symptoms you must stay at home and get a test.

  • A high temperature meaning you feel hot to touch on your chest or back - you do not need to measure your temperature.

  • A new continuous cough meaning coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours - if you usually have a cough it may be worse than usual.

  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste meaning you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different from normal.

To get a test use the link address below, if the test result is positive you must inform the school.

If you are worried about your symptoms or are not sure what to do use the NHS111 online service, do not visit your GP surgery, hospital or pharmacy.

You may leave your home to get a test but otherwise you should remain at home, not attend school and not have visitors to your home. If your child seems very unwell, is getting worse or you think there is something seriously wrong, call 999.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school.

Thank you for your continuing support and understanding during these challenging times.
